Camp Luther (September 17-18, 2010) This is an event were Luther families can set-up tent or bring out their RVs on the school's lawn. Although camping is not required there will be plenty of activities, food, and fun for everyone.
Bookfair: (October 8 & 12-15, 2010) This bookfair provides the opportunities for families and teachers to build their personal and classroom libraries by purchasing books offered by the Scholastic Publishing Company. Gifts can also be purchased for your child's classroom based on teacher's "wish lists". Luther PTA uses profits from the bookfair to benefit Luther school; often to purchase books for the library, classrooms and Accelerated Reader tests for assessing reading comprehension. For volunteering opportunities to work a 1-2 hour shift at the bookfair, contact chairperson Shelley Esquivel at lutherpta@gmail.com.
Reflections (Entries due October 14, 2010) Each year, the PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by "Together We Can.", and students submit entries to Luther PTA. The program has six arts areas—dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts—and is open to all grades.
Red Ribbon Week (October 23-30, 2010) Just Say "NO!" to drugs. This is a week long event with activities and that's coordinated with the La Palma Police.
International Loved Ones Day: (February 11th, 2011) This is a wonderful family event at school. Come have lunch with your loved ones and visit the diverse cultural booths that make up our school. For more information or to help with this year's event, contact us at lutherpta@gmail.com.
Dr. Seuss Week: (February 28th - March 4th, 2011) This is a fun week celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday. We have a Community Read In where special guests come visit classrooms and read to the students. There will be a book exchange where students trade in books they have already read for other books they have not read.
Spring Festival : (To be determined) Our annual school festival and silent auction offers families a chance to enjoy games, food, face painting, inflatables, balloon artists and other fun activities. This event along with the silent auction is a fundraiser for Luther PTA while offering a great time for everyone involved. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help plan and work this popular event. If you'd like to be a part of the team that makes this event happen for our students & families, please contact us at lutherpta@gmail.com.
Family Events: (throughout the year) These fun family nights and daytime activities vary from year to year but offer the chance for Luther families to get together in a fun atmosphere where bonds between parents, students and staff can grow. Some of our family nights have included Camp Luther, Spring Festival Carnival, International Loved Ones Day, skate nights, bowling nights, and an evening magic show. Look for upcoming information and if you'd like to help plan or work one of these events, please contact VP of Programs, Robin Park at lutherpta@gmail.com.
